We are Red Hot, 1920s–1940s UKULELE/VOCAL DUO for themed and corporate events: just me (‘Red’ Lynda Styan with the vivid voice and rocking wooden ukulele) and Anthony Mason (‘Hot’ virtuoso on the ukulele banjo, faster than Formby with lusty larynx and a fine line in bravura banter). The two of us together have been described as ‘dynamite’ by usually unexcitable observers and ‘perfectly wonderful’ by the more eloquent. The Royal Artillery surrendered to us at Larkhill Barracks one memorable evening of Spitfires and rain, while entire towns still talk of us in awed whispers.
Not necessarily tied to the stage with full PA system, we also do walkabout with our instruments and voices, generating grins and getting toes tapping even if they’re inside Doc Martens or size 10 army issue. Lynda also sings soul-stirring ballads (without her uke) and 'songs from the shows' of the 1930s/40s in the style of Peggy Lee, Marilyn Monroe, Judy Garland, Ella Fitzgerald, embracing the music of Cole Porter, George Gershwin and Irving Berlin.
We can also work with dazzling accordionist Janet Beale to make ‘Red Hot and Blonde’ (we’re nothing if not inventive). In addition, Lynda is of course also available as a solo artiste in her own right.
“Very authentic nostalgic voice and act” (Simon Cowell)
“Will be in demand in the corporate sector and cabaret” (Peter Hepple, The Stage)
“Wonderful musicality” (Desmond Carrington – BBC Radio 2)
“Real talent, very original” (Dave Lee Travis – BBC Radio DJ)
“Wow!” (Lynda’s mum)

Clicking the little dancing chappie below will open the 'Red Hot Uke Juke' - where you can relax, listen to 'Red Hot' and soak up the music and flavour of times past! (Do remember to turn your speakers on!)
